Hormel Foods and Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province signed an agreement to build a new room-temperature factory in the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone on Jan 5, according to local media reports.

Hormel is a multinational producer and distributor of high-quality branded food and meat products in the United States.

Construction of the room-temperature factory will cost a total of 100 million yuan ($14.58 million).

Covering an area of about 40,000 square meters, the new room temperature factory will serve as a "lighthouse factory", which refers to a factory with advanced intelligent manufacturing technology.

The new factory will feature various advanced technologies and further improve production efficiency and product quality through automation and digitalization. After the completion of the first phase, it is expected to increase the annual production capacity of high-end food by 6,000 metric tons.
