The Global Rich 2023 list was recently released by the Hurun Research Institute.

Twelve entrepreneurs from Jiaxing, Zhejiang province made the list. Jiaxing ranked 15th in China in number of billionaires.

The number of billionaires with a personal wealth of at least $1 billion worldwide fell by 269 from last year, the biggest drop in several years, to 3,112.

China and the United States are home to 53 percent of the world's known billionaires.

For the first time ever, famous athletes appeared on the list. The top ranked athletes were World Cup Qatar 2022 winner Lionel Messi and his main competitor Cristiano Ronaldo.

Beijing remained the global capital of billionaires, while New York overtook Shanghai for second place.

Milan was the fastest-growing city in the world this year in number of billionaires, followed by Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai.
