Construction of a global aviation logistics hub project in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, commenced in Xiuzhou district on April 14.

The project is an important part of the province's construction of a modern logistics system and involves Jiaxing Nanhu Airport's main structure, freight transport, supporting facilities, and the aviation logistics of YTO Express, a major parcel delivery company in China.

With a combined investment of 15.22 billion yuan ($2.22 billion), the project is scheduled to be put into service in the first half of 2025. By 2030, the passenger and cargo throughput of Jiaxing Nanhu Airport is expected to reach 1.8 million and 1.1 million metric tons respectively.

In the near future, the Jiaxing airport will become the distribution center of import fruit, meat and other cold-chain products in the YRD region as well as the point of global export of high-end electronics, precision instruments, and other high-value-added products from surrounding areas.

Wang Hao, governor of Zhejiang, said at the groundbreaking ceremony that Jiaxing should actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and Yangtze River Delta integration and make full use of its advantages in geographic position, natural environment, and technology.
