The 19th Hangzhou Asian Games are drawing near, and the demand for sporting goods is surging. Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is home to many sporting goods manufacturers, who are taking advantage of an increase in exports.

One of them is Bonny Composite-Tech (Tongxiang) Ltd, a company that specializes in carbon fiber sporting equipment. The company has received several orders for squash rackets, ice hockey sticks, badminton rackets and other products from Asian customers, and its exports have grown by 5 to 10 percent this year.

Ice hockey sticks are very popular in the Japanese and South Korean markets, and customers are mainly from professional ice hockey clubs and university sports clubs. In addition, because badminton is a traditional sport with a strong base in Asia, the company's badminton rackets have also achieved steady growth in exports to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries, said Zhang Xuemei, director of the company's foreign trade department.

"Exports to Asia account for 25 percent of our total exports. We expect that after the Asian Games, these sporting events will create a new wave of enthusiasm among people in Asia. We will maintain strong relationships with our old customers and develop new markets to increase our market share in sporting equipment in Asia," added Zhang.
