Jiaxing counties recognized nationally

The recent 2024 National County Tourism Development Research Report revealed the top 100 counties in comprehensive tourism strength for 2024, with Zhejiang province leading the way with 35 counties on the list.

Among these, three counties and county-level cities in Jiaxing rank highly: Tongxiang (5th), Jiashan county (19th), and Haining (24th).

Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing, has consistently ranked 5th for the past five years, showcasing its strong cultural and tourism appeal. The city is famous for events like the Wuzhen Theater Festival and the Mao Dun Literature Week, which have significantly boosted its popularity.

Jiashan county has also been on the top 100 list for six consecutive years, steadily climbing the ranks. This year, it ranked 19th, leveraging its unique geographical and cultural resources to deeply integrate culture and tourism.

The county offers creative tourism products, including intangible cultural heritage experiences, rural tourism, and eco-leisure activities, attracting many visitors.

Haining, another county-level city of Jiaxing, has been recognized as an "outstanding tourist city of China" and offers a distinctive tourism landscape characterized by tidal bore viewing, historical sites, and cultural attractions.

Tourism remains a powerful driver of economic growth in China, with over 1.6 million people directly employed at A-level tourist attractions in 2023, employing more than 10 million people overall.
