A Hong Kong-registered container ship docked at Jiaxing Zhapu Port's Zone D on Oct 15, marking the inaugural journey of the new Zhapu–Busan trade route.

This addition brings the total number of international container routes at Zhapu Port to eight, joining existing routes to Japan, Russia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

To ensure the safe operation of this new route, the Jiaxing maritime department provided shipping companies with crucial information about water conditions, policies, and regulations.

Understanding the tight schedules and frequent docking needs of container ships, the department also offered round-the-clock appointment services, ensuring 24/7 customs clearance throughout the year.

The department utilized the "Jiahaitong" digital system to precisely calculate the time required for ships to enter the port, dock, and operate, which minimized non-productive waiting times.

Integrated supervision through drones, patrol boats, and digital surveillance were employed to enhance inspections of key waterways and anchorages. This ensured dynamic supervision of ships entering and leaving the port while promptly clearing any obstructions like fishing nets and gear.

In the first three quarters of this year, Zhapu Port handled 2.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), an increase of 10.12 percent year-on-year, and achieved a river-sea intermodal container throughput of 770,900 TEUs – up 6.94 percent from the previous year.
