Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1993 and upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in 2014. It covers 110 square kilometers, with an urban planning area of 71 sq km.

The development zone is located in the southwest area of Lishui city and has two major functions: leisure industry development and ecological industry agglomeration.

In 2019, the development zone received $53.98 million in foreign investment, accounting for 44.7 percent of the city's total foreign investment, and saw 634 million yuan ($90.77 million) in research and development, with a year-on-year growth of 52.89 percent.

A total of 19 new national high and new technology enterprises, 56 provincial small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises and five provincial research and development centers were added to the development zone last year.

The development zone boasts a sound transport network, having the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou expressway running through it, and being close to the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou railway and only 100 km from Wenzhou Longwan International Airport and Yiwu Airport.

The zone attaches great importance to investment promotion, and has established an investment promotion committee, constructed an investment promotion system of "three bureaus and two centers" made up of three professional investment promotion bureaus, one investment and entrepreneurship service center, and one administrative examination and approval service center.

The zone also takes measures to encourage enterprises to innovate in science and technology, and to guide them to connect with the capital market, so as to support and strengthen enterprises with advanced science and technology.
