Tourists made 5.45 million trips to Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, generating 3.46 billion yuan ($516.68 million) in tourism revenue, according to official data.

Among all the scenic spots there, the Xiandu Scenic Area in Jinyun county, the Window of She Village in Jingning She autonomous county and Guyan Huaxiang Scenic Area in Liandu district ranked as the top three destinations.

During the holiday, those scenic spots respectively received 136,400, 108,300 and 91,400 tourists.

Local officials said it was worth mentioning that a large number of new business forms emerged during the break.

They said the National Mine Park of Suichang Gold Ore in Suichang county launched a series of eye-catching activities, for example, featuring high-tech gold production methods.

Officials said that further boosting tourism to the area was the Quzhou-Ningde Railway – running from Quzhou city in Zhejiang to the coastal city of Ningde in China's southeastern Fujian province – which officially opened on Sept 27.

They added that many chose the new line to experience the beauty of Lishui during the holiday.
