Jinyun county – administered by Lishui city in East China – is conducting a range of classes in a push to help its residents along the path to prosperity.

One example of the successful program took place recently when Li Chunmeng, head of the Wuyangwan fruit and vegetable professional cooperative, got stuck in teaching local farmers how to plant water bamboo on his farm.

It was one of the practical classes in the county's on-site teaching program, called the "common prosperity class".

The program aims to impart to villagers the skills of making local agricultural products, such as Jinyun shaobing – also known as Jinyun bucket baked rolls – as well as cultivating water bamboo and grapes and making noodles.

At Dongli village, a grape planting "common prosperity class" has been set up. The class, inviting grape experts to teach regularly, has so far trained more than 400 people.

As a result, these days some 80 percent of the land in Dongli is planted with grapes and the annual output value has reached more than 13 million yuan ($1.96 million). More and more villagers are becoming prosperous by planting grapes.

Jinyun's "common prosperity class" has trained 25,000 people to date. In 2021, Jinyun achieved per capita disposable income of 26,422 yuan, an increase of 12.6 percent over the previous year.

In addition, the total income of the county's village collective economy was 234.61 million yuan, up 17.77 percent year-on-year.
