A state-of-the-art sports, recreational and tourism center has opened in Hechi town, Qingyuan county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province.

The center is called the Southwest Zhejiang Sub-Plateau Sports Base and it was launched on July 5, local media reported.

The term sub-plateau in China means a broad, elevated level area with an altitude of around 1,000 meters. The center is said to be the first of its kind in Zhejiang.

The town has been planning it since the end of last year. According to officials, it includes a stadium, a camping site, water sports complex and a sightseeing cableway, among other things.

The construction has two phases, with the planned investment for the first phase reaching 85 million yuan ($12.68 million).
