Lishui city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – outlined its remarkable accomplishments since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, in remarks made by authorities at a recent news conference.

Party Secretary Hu Haifeng, said the city had continuously promoted its high-quality green development, based on the Two Mountains theory – which states that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets – over the past decade.

In the past 10 years, Lishui's GDP has increased by 2.3 times and its industrial added value by 2.3 times, achieving the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

Lishui is seen as being the cradle of the "revolutionary spirit of southwest Zhejiang", as the first Party branch in southwest Zhejiang was established in the city's Suichang county in January 1927.

The city has been exploiting its rich red resources for many years. At present, the income of both urban and rural residents in Lishui ranks among the top 40 prefecture-level cities in China and is first among the country's 20 key old revolutionary base cities.

Furthermore, with its continuous promotion of pilot projects aimed at realizing the value of its natural products, Lishui has established a number of regional consumer brands – Lishui Shan'geng for agricultural products, Lishui Shanju for homestays and Lishui Shanjing for scenic spots.

Last year, to make full use of its abundant water resources, the city launched its Li Shui Spring mineral water brand.

Lishui has also sustained efforts to boost the development of its manufacturing sector. In 2021, the city's new introduction of large projects increased by 31 percent year-on-year.

Lishui airport, which is currently under construction, is expected to open in 2024. The airport is expected to significantly promote the city's integrated transportation system.

Moreover, the city will promote its reform and opening up, optimize its construction and boost the realization of common prosperity in the coming years, according to officials.
