The Jingning She Autonomous Museum recently made it onto the list of the most beautiful public cultural venues in East China's Zhejiang province – one of 50 facilities across the province to win the honor.

Located in the Jingning She autonomous county, administered by Lishui city in Zhejiang province, the museum comprehensively displays the culture and folk customs of the She ethnic group.

With a floor space of 5,544 square meters, it was opened to the public in March 2012 and has a collection of more than 6,000 pieces. It's divided into several sections – including a main exhibition hall and a cabin area showcasing traditional skills of the She ethnic group – as well as the Jingning She Costume Museum.

There are five themes in the main exhibition hall: migration and distribution, environment and settlements, production and exchanges, diet and clothing, as well as culture and art. These all display the customs and characteristics of the She people.

In the cabin area, visitors can learn about traditional She medicine and pottery skills – which have a marvelous history spanning over 1,000 years – and admire locally made and exquisite works such as root carvings and silver jewelry.

The Jingning She Costume Museum, for its part, focuses on the changes and developments of She clothing – showing the tradition and modern inheritance of She clothing.

The Jingning She Autonomous Museum is widely regarded as being an important window for people to understand the culture and history of the She ethnic group and interpret their folk customs. It is a national 3A-rated attraction and its displays have won fine exhibition projects awards twice in the province.
