The upcoming 2022 FIAP World Photographers Conference – to be held in Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 17-21 – will highlight the role of young people in the field through a slew of fascinating activities.

An exhibition featuring the works of young photographers, a sideline event of the conference, has captured the attention of youngsters from around the world. It is designed to provide a platform to showcase their talent and to inspire their creativity, as well as to explore new trends.

At the photography industrial park in Lishui, 130 works by 25 photographers will be exhibited outdoors in an innovative way – either displayed in the mountains or attached to old buildings. Through these kinds of imaginative arrangements, the organizers hope to present exciting new ideas to those just starting out in the field of endeavor.

Young photographers will be invited to share their insights at a talk show session on the afternoon of Nov 19. The collision of different ideas in a light-hearted way is expected to help these emerging insiders to open their minds and voice their opinions without reserve.

The World Photographers Conference will also reach out to a wider range of people by displaying photos and videos on nearly 1,300 outdoor screens citywide. "The program is an echo of Lishui government's call to build a youth-oriented city," said Zhang Kaisheng, a member of the conference's organizing body, adding that these sights and sounds will showcase the city's vitality.

Talented young photographers from Lishui will attend the conference, including Chen Ronghui, a graduate from Yale University and Ren Lengfei, a graduate from the School of Visual Arts New York City. Both of them, winners of several international photography awards, represent the group of young natives who are starting out in Lishui and moving into the wider world.

Lishui is striving to embrace its high-quality development, with the photography industry as one of the main driving forces. The efforts to help young people grow are seen as being of great importance in this process. The World Photographers Conference is expected to serve as a bridge between young photographers and the city.
