The city of Lishui - located in East China's Zhejiang province – held an opening ceremony for a transnational commerce conference on Dec 23, with over 120 foreign buyers and company representatives participating.

In recent years, the city has begun to conduct commercial negotiations and sign business intentions with foreign investors. After the opening ceremony, Lishui held a series of matchmaking sessions with 1,000 foreign investors.

The sessions included presentations on the intelligent equipment and home appliances industry, bamboo and wood products and the edible mushroom industry. It also included presentations on the wine and coffee industry, valve industry, auto air conditioning parts industry, the ecological synthetic leather and rolling functional parts industry, wooden toys industry and stainless steel industry.

Though affected by COVID-19, the commerce department of Lishui has taken actions to stabilize foreign trade, foreign investment and to promote consumption. It has visited more than 100 enterprises and assisted them in export tax rebates, financing, joining exhibitions, brand cultivation and other issues.

Lishui is expected to issue export credit insurance financial assistance funds of more than 25 million yuan ($3.58 million) this year.

Over 30 foreign trade enterprises from Lishui have gone to Frankfurt in Germany, Milan in Italy, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and other places to participate in exhibitions and business activities, presenting a new opportunity to secure orders.
