Water town weddings

Weddings in water towns such as Tangqi, Chongxian and Wuchang in Yuhang District are commonplace across Hangzhou. The bride is picked up by the groom and escorted by boat to her wedding. Numerous traditions take place, such as the bride's brother stomping on the boat a few times to stop any waves, after which it is said no current or wind will pose a problem to the newlyweds.
