Export of cultural services doubles in Zhejiang
East China's Zhejiang province's trade in cultural services amounted to 2.56 billion yuan ($380.99 million) and an export volume of 810 million yuan in the first three quarters of this year, up by 198.67 percent year-on-year.
After the G20 Summit, Zhejiang is known to the world and its good reputation is attracting foreign clients to cooperate with local trading companies of cultural services. The export volume this September alone reached 410 million yuan, a record high.
The jump in export of cultural services benefits from the national Belt and Road Initiative as well. The trade with countries along that route has been 227 million yuan, 28 percent of the provincial total. These countries have been Zhejiang's second largest market in culture export, after only the United States.
The export structure of cultural services in Zhejiang is being constantly improved this year. High-tech and high value-added services in culture, creation, film and television made up 75 percent of the total export volume in cultural services, at 610 million yuan.
Press and publications, cultural information transmission, high-tech cultural and creative products featured on AR (Augmented Reality) and 3D technologies also enjoyed higher popularity across the world.
Cross-border e-commerce in Zhejiang's cultural services has flourished during the past three quarters. The online trade of cultural products and services, including e-books and online games and music, represents 40 percent of the total. Services of reading, education, and other academic pursuits on the Internet have also made an impact on international markets.
In addition to the trade in cultural services, others like finance, insurance and education have also increased by over 50 percent.
Zhejiang's services trade volume has risen by 12.2 percent year-on-year, adding up to 222.04 billion yuan in the first three quarters. The export volume was 142.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 16.6 percent.
