Opera performance

Traditional opera performances never miss the New Year's season. Different kinds of opera are staged during an annual opera festival organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture in Hangzhou. People can enjoy performances of Yue Opera, Yao Opera, Ou Opera, Wu Opera and puppet shows over the next several weeks.

Wenzhou, home of traditional Ou Opera, will have an opera week in January of 2017. Famous artists of Yue Opera and Ou Opera are going to perform classic plays for the public.

Hiking and climbing

On the first day of 2017, residents in Hangzhou can join in a hiking or climbing event to celebrate the new year in a healthy way. The area for hiking is along the Grand Canal, enabling participants to experience the traditional culture of the beautiful city.

Starting from Fahua Temple, the destination for climbing is Yongfu Temple, a nationwide famous temple where participants can pray for something good.
