The Asia Fashion Federation hosted its China conference in Art & Fashion Town in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on June 7-9.
The conference, based around the theme "Fashion without Borders", featured shows by a host of Asian designers, as well as several fashion forums.
The highlight was a joint show by five Asian designers said to represent a new generation of Asian fashion talent, which unveiled 60 innovative outfits.
The Asia Fashion Federation was founded by the China Fashion Association, Korea Fashion Association and Japan Fashion Association in 2003. Three more organizations, the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore, Thai Garment Manufacturers Association and Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, have since joined the AFF, in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Art & Fashion Town was selected as the first characteristic town of Hangzhou in 2015 and opened in 2016. The development is growing into a hub for cultural businesses, with more and more designers and brands moving into the area.
The secretariat of the Chinese Committee of the Asian Fashion Federation is also now based in Art & Fashion Town.
The town now has the title of "entrepreneurship base for Asian fashion designers", which will ensure that it provides more space and support for designers.
