Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe received several applause and praises from overseas Chinese in Wellington, capital of New Zealand after a stellar performance on Aug 6, Xinhua reported.

Led by the troupe director Mao Weitao, performers presented nine scenes of eight classic plays, including the famous Butterfly Lovers and The Injustice Done to Dou E. The exquisite moves and elegant style of singing fascinated the 400 audience members.

Liu Qi, director of the cultural exchanges department at the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas said they hoped the Yueju Opera melody could arouse attendees' memories about their hometowns and the desire to learn more about Chinese cultures.

The show was hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas and co-organized by New Zealand China Cultural Center and Wellington's China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification.

Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe, founded by Zhejiang government in 1984, is a professional performing group. It has presented a number of classical plays over the past 30 years and has been a great brand for Zhejiang's Yueju Opera art.
