A 26-episode TV drama called Green Love, featuring stories about young people's entrepreneurial dreams in Zhejiang villages, was released on CCTV 1 on Oct 18, to celebrate the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The drama is directed by Ma Jin, and stars a group of famous performers including Guo Jingfei and Che Xiao. Planned by Zhejiang's publicity department and jointly produced by many institutes such as Zhejiang TV and Radio Group, the drama is a major project promoted by the province to display its achievements in encouraging green economy in rural areas.

President Xi Jinping proposed the idea that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and often stressed the importance of protecting the ecology. The drama is an artistic reflection of how Zhejiang has put into practice Xi's instructions.

The main storyline of Green Love centers on Lin Shen, a young man who used to work in the city. Lin decides to start a business in the countryside. Unable to accept the severe environmental destruction he sees around him, he steps forward to lead the local villagers to find a healthy way to make their fortunes. Lin gets support from governments and companies, and overcomes a lot of difficulties. He participates in the building of a beautiful village.

The plots also include some hotspot issues in today's China such as grassroots elections, attracting businesses and rural tourism.

The preparatory work for the drama took over two years. To make sure the plots were close to life, scriptwriters visited governments at different levels and took part in their daily work. They made records of officials' living conditions, in the hope of adding more real stories to the script.

The inspection of the natural environment was also a key point in the production team's field trips. They went to tens of towns and villages in Zhejiang to look for shooting locations, interesting things and characters.

The drama was shot mostly in the city of Huzhou and produced by the country's top art teams. It is a vivid picture of both beautiful landscapes and the spirit of the time, and aims to show the harmonious relationship between nature and human beings.
