Youth film festival explores new forces for film development
The 4th Zhejiang Youth Film Festival, currently underway in Hangzhou, capital Zhejiang, is exploring young people's enthusiasm and aspiration towards the Chinese film industry through a string of activities which began on Nov 11.
The festival, which last till Nov 17, is hosted by the Publicity Department of Zhejiang's Provincial Party Committee, Zhejiang provincial administration of press, publication, radio, film and television and China Film Foundation.
Participants include young directors, screenwriters, producers and other industry insiders who are keen to exchange ideas and show the world the youth power in Chinese filmmaking. The festival puts Zhejiang into the spotlight for its contribution in promoting development in the film industry.
The event features assorted activities, including a film summit for young talents, several forums on different topics, a film panorama, a training course and a special unit for science fiction films.
The film Ash directed by Li Xiaofeng opened the festival. It was highly praised at the Busan International Film Festival. The film for the closing ceremony will be The Storm Looming, winner of the Best Actor Award and the Best Artistic Contribution Award at Tokyo International Film Festival.
A total of 19 films produced by young people will be premiered during the seven-day event. The China Film Foundation will give financial support to some excellent film works and the East Wave Film Group will provide a training course for young people to know more about the industrial chain of filmmaking.
