Tonglu Economic Development Zone(杭州桐庐经济开发区) was established in 1992, and in 1994, it was promoted to be a provincial-level economic development zone approved by the Zhejiang province.

Situated on the southern bank of Fuchun River which is adjacent to Tonglu county with 320 State Road passing through, the zone is just one hour's drive from Hangzhou International Airport, three hours' drive from Shanghai, and two and a half hours' drive from Ningbo.

The zone is equipped with a power station with an installed capacity of 300,000 KW, and two substations of 35KV and 220KV respectively. At present, waterworks with a daily capacity of 10,000 tons supply the water for irrigation, industrial or household use.

The first phase of a sewage treatment plant with a daily treatment capacity of 100,000 tons of waste water has been completed. A daily 30,000-ton sewage treatment project has already been put into operation.

The infrastructure, such as water supply and sewage discharge, are all available. The zone encourages foreign enterprises to establish productive projects that involve high and new technologies as well as transferred technology.

An industrial pattern focusing on stationery, clothing, toys, luggage, biopharmaceuticals, leather, machinery, and electronics, has taken shape. More than 300 projects have settled in the zone.

The administration committee offers enterprises various support and services including registration, enrollment, land application, loans and factory building.

The shipping traffic along the Fuchun River leads upstream to Qiandao Lake and downstream to Hangzhou Bay.

Electricity supply: Electricity is supplied by the power network of East China with a sufficient power supply and stable voltage to meet the requirements of different kinds of enterprises.

Water supply: The zone has a waterworks with a daily capacity of 30,000 tons, which meets water demand for enterprises and residents.

Telecoms equipment: An advanced communications network has been completed in the zone.
