High-speed train takes tourists from Shanghai to Zhuji

A high-speed train of roughly 600 tourists from Shanghai arrived in Zhuji, Zhejiang province, hometown of the ancient beauty Xi Shi, on Jan 1.
It is the first tourism train themed on "picturesque Zhejiang" connecting Shanghai and the small city in Zhejiang, aiming to display the beautiful landscapes and profound culture of Zhuji to more people.
The development of high-speed trains brings a big opportunity to the tourism industry in Zhuji and opens a new era of "train + tourism".
At the welcome ceremony, tourists and local residents took part in various cultural activities together including trying their hands at traditional paper cutting, writing couplets and tasting local cuisine. Additionally, the local tourism administration was able to show off the tourism possibilities in Zhuji through display boards and multimedia platforms .
On the way from Shanghai to Zhuji, there were also various activities on the train to celebrate the arrival of the New Year for the tourists.
Zhuji has launched a few tourist routes combining different scenic areas and cultural spots, such as Baita Lake and Xi Shi's hometown, in a bid to give visitors a taste of the city's nature, culture and people's hospitality. The city is working hard to promote its tourism.
