Hangzhou to showcase eight-minute art performance at Jakarta Asian Games

The 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia will be held this summer.
As tradition, Hangzhou, host of the 2022 Games will put on an eight-minute art performance during the closing ceremony of the Games in Jakarta on Sept 2.
The art performance will mark a farewell to Jakarta Asian Games and welcome the arrival of Hangzhou. It is also a great opportunity for Hangzhou to promote itself on the world stage.
Chen Weiya, vice director of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics and executive director of its closing ceremony, has been appointed by the organizing committee of 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games to direct the eight-minute show. Chen received the letter of appointment from Xu Liyi, mayor of Hangzhou on April 4.
Chen is an experienced director in organizing ceremonies for grand events. His team once took major responsibilities at opening and closing ceremonies of many events such as Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games, Guangzhou Asian Games and Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Since 2017, the organizing committee has conducted a few investigations on Chinese outstanding directors and finally reached a consensus with Chen's team.
"My team and I will exert all our energies to design the show and display the international and modernized image of Hangzhou to the world," said Chen.
