Anji white tea, from Anji county, Zhejiang province, gained many admirers among global tea purchasers at a trade fair in Poznan, the third largest city of Poland, from May 8-10.

This year, eight tea farmers from the county teamed up to promote the naturally white sprouts distinctive in Anji on an international stage. In addition to displaying the photos and videos of local tea plantations, they also demonstrated the tea making process to visitors.

During the three-day event, farmers signed sales contracts with purchasers from 27 countries, reaching a sales volume of 170 metric tons, a record high in the export history of Anji White Tea.

Zhang Zhongming, a farmer from the county, said the European Union (EU) have some of the highest standards for the safety of tea leaves in the world. The fact that Anji White Tea passed the EU's tests and sold well at the international fair proved its high quality, according to Zhang.

Yue Chun, another participant at the fair, hailed the experience in Poland a good opportunity to meet international tea traders, which he hoped would increase the white tea's influence worldwide.

Anji White Tea, well-known for its refreshing taste, is a specialty in East China's Zhejiang province. In the county, approximately 198,000 residents are employed in the tea industry. Currently, the tea plantations in Anji cover a total area of over 11,000 hectares.

Last year, 1,860 tons of white tea was produced in Anji, generating an output value of 2.47 billion yuan ($389 million).
