Ningbo, a historic and prosperous city in Zhejiang province, released an audio piece which records the most distinctive sounds of the city on May 17.
The audio clip rather appropriately kicks off with the arrival of a high-speed train. Hearing the sounds of old musical instruments, reading, a tolling bell, Ningbo dialect and Chinese people and foreigners alike talking about the city, listeners are able to get a feel of the profound culture and rapid development of the coastal city in Zhejiang.
Most of the sounds are collected from the most representative natural and cultural sites in Ningbo, including the Hemudu cultural site where an ancient tribe lived 7,000 years ago, Tianyi Pavilion, China's oldest existing private library, and Xuedou Mountain.
Meanwhile, the economic achievements such as the election of the country's first pilot city in implementing "Made in China 2025" and the development of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port are included in the audio episode via oral introductions.
Ningbo people, as well as foreign expats who are immersed in the life here and committed to developing the city into a better place, express their affection for the city.
The audio episode is co-produced by China Media Group, a newly merged State-owned broadcasting platform and Ningbo's publicity department. It aims to present the charm of Ningbo in a different way.
