Intl tea expo sees fruitful results

The 2nd China International Tea Expo came to an end in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province on May 22. A total of 100 million yuan ($15.7 million) in deals were signed over the five days.

Themed on "tea and the world, share development", this year's event attracted a total of 1,540 tea-related companies and organizations from over 30 countries and regions.

With an area of 70,000 square meters and 2,654 standard booths, the five-day event provided a platform where companies from home and abroad could display their featured tea products and seek exchanges and cooperation opportunities.

"This year's tea expo fully demonstrates the unique charm of tea culture, and more importantly, further promotes the development of the global tea industry," said an official from the organizing committee, adding that the expo plays a constructive role in facilitating exchanges and cooperation in the tea industry between China and the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, an assortment of forums, cooperation dialogues and brand promotion activities were also held on the sideline.

According to the official statistics, the total trading volume of tea products reached at the event this year had exceeded 99.43 tons with 4,253 contracts being signed by the end of May 22.
