Zhejiang villagers sing out their dreams and happiness
The final of Jiangshan Fifth Village Ballads Contest was held at the Sidu town in Jiangshan city, Zhejiang province on May 23.
Jiangshan in southwest Zhejiang province is honored as the birthplace of village ballads in China and approximately 200 ballads has been composed by local villagers.
With the theme of prosperous countryside and resonant ballads, the contest aims to help the city's villagers discover their cultural self-consciousness and confidence.
Some 14 ballads revealing beautiful local sceneries and unique culture performed by local villagers reached the final.
After fierce competition, six ballads took gold medals.
The contest is sponsored by the publicity department of Jiangshan, the city's Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Press and Publication, and organized by the city's cultural center.
