An exchange activity featuring insights into Chinese and French art was held in the Nanxi Academy, in Yongjia county of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, on May 23.

Themed around "the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the community of human arts", the event, part of the "When Paris meets Wenzhou—Sino-French Artist Sketching and Exhibition" took place to promote cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and French modern art.

More than 10 Chinese and French artists gathered to share professional insights into human art and discussed the similarities and differences between Chinese and French art.

The Nanxi Academy, where the activity was held, is a newly built artistic and cultural communication platform that plays an important role in revitalizing rural areas by virtue of introducing art to rural children, according to Zhou Jianpeng, one of the initiators of the activity.

"As the BRI has brought the world closer than ever before, the history and culture of Wenzhou is being spread across the globe through art", said Zhou.

Rémy Aron, president of the French Artist Association, believed that it was an epoch-making event which will usher in a new era for artistic cooperation between China and France.

Being held from May 11 to 24, the "When Paris meets Wenzhou—Sino-French Artist Sketching and Exhibition" displayed over 60 works from 22 Chinese and French artists.
