Xixi Wetland Park celebrates dragon boat festival
Xixi Wetland Park in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is set to host a cultural event from June 16 to 18, as part of the many activities taking place in the city to mark the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.
The event, which lasts for three days, will feature a wide range of traditional activities, including dragon boat racing, Yueju Opera performances and making rice dumplings, with the aim of offering visitors a true authentic experience.
It is expected that the event will be a very international affair. Among the participants of the ten teams who have entered themselves for the dragon boat race, 90 percent are expats who come from 47 countries, including the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
It is hoped that the event will serve as a platform for foreigners around the world who are living in or visiting Hangzhou to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
The cultural event has been successfully held since 2008 and has become a tradition for the Dragon Boat Festival in the capital city of Zhejiang.
