A delegation from Zhejiang province in East China, headed by Che Jun, Party secretary of the province, left Mauritius June 19 after a two-day visit, the last stop on the delegation's visit to Africa.

During the stay in the island nation, Che attended the China (Zhejiang)-Mauritius Business Forum and a tourism conference.

The business forum, with representatives from more than 40 Zhejiang and Mauritian companies, served as an important platform to help companies from the two sides to engage with each other and explore collaboration opportunities.

Mauritius is one of the most developed African countries, while Zhejiang has seen robust economic development in recent years. The cooperation between the two sides enjoys a solid foundation and huge potential, according to Che.

He said that Zhejiang will deepen cooperation with Mauritius in the economy, trade, harbor development, tourism, finance and people-to-people exchanges.

The cooperation between Mauritius and Zhejiang has entered a new era thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative, said Mauritian President Barlen Vyapoory, adding that he hoped to see more Zhejiang tourists traveling to Mauritius and more companies starting businesses there.

Prior to the forum, Zhejiang Tourism Bureau signed a memorandum of understanding with Mauritius' ministry of tourism at a conference in a bid to boost the tourism industry and increase cultural communication between the two sides.
