Feather Flies to the Sky, a TV drama dealing with the development of Yiwu and its people's resilient spirit, will air on Filipino television in August, celebrating the 43rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines.

The drama centers on the life of Chen Jianghe, a Yiwu orphan who overcomes adversity to finally achieve success in business, thanks largely to his insightfulness and hard-working spirit.

The drama follows Chen's life and thoughts over more than 50 years and reflects the gradual development of Yiwu, known as "the world's largest small commodities market".

A joint effort to further cultural exchanges between the two nations, the Filipino broadcast of Feather Flies to the Sky will detail 40 years of China's reform and opening-up, and allow Southeast Asians to better understand the struggles Zhejiang people have faced over the decades, said Wu Jiaping, chairman of the drama's production company.
