In order to enable people to benefit from cultural projects and improve reading conditions in mountainous regions, Taishun, a county in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, and Wenzhou library recently jointly launched the "mobile library", a program to deliver books to the countryside by bus.
"The program makes more knowledge available for our villagers," said Xu Duan, an official from Taishun's Xianian village. "The 'mobile library', which brings the latest books to the villages, is a good replenishment to the existing rural cultural resources."
The program is one of several cultural services offered by Wenzhou library. Eight well-equipped buses have been put into operation for the program and one of them was assigned the task of delivering books to Taishun.
Zhang Yiwu, curator of the county's library, said in the next six months, the library on a bus will reach 19 towns in Taishun and update books every month.
