An incubation park for the film and television industry was unveiled at the China Daily-Necessities Metropolis in Taizhou's Luqiao district, East China's Zhejiang province on July 26.

Invested by a local film and television producer and the district government with more than 30 million yuan ($4.4 million), the incubator aims to integrate financing, project assessment and incubation and international education on film and television.

According to the local media report, a total of 16 enterprises have settled in the incubation base.

Epitomizing the development of the city's film and television industry, the incubation park was launched after a group of preferential policies and funds were provided by the municipal government to further upgrade the cultural industry.

The coastal city of Taizhou boasts tourism resources in its mountains and coastline, such as the Tiantai Mountain, Shenxianju Mountain in Xianju county and Shitang town in Wenling, which attract a large number of visitors every year.

"Most professionals in the film and television industry are in the major cities," said an official with the publicity department of Taizhou, adding that talent introduction and team building of such professionals, as well as preferential policies, are necessary for the city to develop the industry.

The city has rolled out a guideline to encourage cultural talent introduction and attracted a group of influential industrial insiders such as Liu Zhijiang, former general manager of Hengdian Film Production Co, one of the biggest film and television producers in China.

Liu has begun setting up a company and is planning a film and television production base, hoping to attract more insiders and create more works on local culture and legends.

Besides its abundant subjects for creation and preferential policies, Taizhou attracts private capital, according to Chen Xiong, director of the organizing committee of the 2018 Asia Tourism-induced Film & TV Arts Week, which kicked off in the city on July 29 and will last until Aug 1.

A service center for film and television production will be built to support crews and help promote the tourism of Taizhou, he added.

Chen hopes the event will expand the city's global presence and boost the local economy.
