A group of 52 students from foreign countries began a 21-day stay at Songxi village, Pujiang county, Zhejiang province, Aug 10 where they are going to savor the charms of traditional life in Chinese villages.

This event was unveiled with a lively dragon dance in the village with a history of 800 years.

In the following weeks, the students will experience an assortment of Chinese folk culture such as paper-cutting, tai chi and calligraphy. They will be taken around the most distinctive attractions in Pujiang's rural areas and get a glimpse of the county's economic development by visiting its crystal park.

To help foreign students better integrate into local life, the organizers have arranged several exchange activities like cooking for them and the villagers.

Petr Mikulec from the Czech Republic, was impressed by the scenery, architecture and people of Songxi. "I can feel the history of buildings here and the hospitality of local residents," he said. Though Mikulec once lived in Beijing and Nanjing and can speak fluent Chinese, he is still looking forward to the days in the village, saying he will remember things there and tell his friends about the wonderful experience.
