A Taiwan delegation of over 100 representatives from the culture, education and media sectors started a tour of East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 14.

The tour, co-hosted by the Chinese Culture Friendship Association and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, consists of an eight-day schedule for the guests from Taiwan.

During the tour, they will be taken to several cities and counties such as Hangzhou, Ningbo and Quzhou to visit the local cultural heritage and art institutes. It is hoped that the delegation will gain a better understanding of Zhejiang's cultural development through the tour.

Li Jiangang, vice chairman of the Chinese Culture Friendship Association, said the tour provides an opportunity for Taiwan people to gain a perspective of the nature, culture and urban development in Zhejiang. He hopes the participants from across the Straits will offer more advice and suggestions for the development of deeper cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation.
