The CGCOC Water Co Ltd, a Zhejiang-based company specializing in water projects, has helped more than ten African countries make the most of their water resources.
Africa-focused CGCOC has built water-related projects worth $2 billion in countries like Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Djibouti and Senegal.
The construction and operation of these projects has created over 2,000 jobs for local people.
In Senegal, a water supply system built by CGCOC began operating in a village on Aug 22. It is part of a plan to construct 181 new water systems for rural communities in north and central Senegal and to repair 70 pre-existing wells.
"A well, a water tower and a few kilometers of pipeline can form a water supply system here," Chen Maowang, deputy general manager of the Zhejiang company, explained.
More than 80 percent of the project- which spans 251 villages - is now complete and the remaining is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
"Many places in Africa are still facing water shortages," Du Fengshan, general manager of CGCOC, said, pledging the company will keep offering a helping hand to these regions and serving as a bridge between China and Africa.
