The 24th China Yiwu International Commodities (Standards) Fair, which opened Oct 21 in the Yiwu International Expo Center, Zhejiang province, has received 2,605 pre-registrations for overseas buyers, up 39 percent year-on-year.

According to the organizers, a record number of more than 200,000 high-quality customers and professional buyers from over 200 countries and regions are participating in the fair.

This year's fair has 4,136 standard booths in a 100,000-square-meter area, where 2,150 enterprises from countries like the United States, Russia, Germany and Portugal display products in 14 industries, including ironware, mechanical and electrical machinery, and daily necessities.

As an important channel for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises to go global, the Yiwu fair aims to help them expand into global markets. Countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, major overseas buyers from Yiwu and buyer groups from abroad are on the invitation list.

The specially arranged standard exhibition area, the "Made in Zhejiang" area and 14 themed areas have been launched to facilitate international trade in Zhejiang province through standardization.

Statistics show that more than 1,700 exhibitors have come from places outside Yiwu, accounting for 75 percent of the total.

In addition, the fair is hosting conferences and events, such as the 2018 China Retail Industry Import Commodities Procurement (Yiwu) Summit, the second Yiwu Design Week and promotional activities to enhance exchanges and cooperation.

The fair closes Oct 25.
