Jiashan Economic Development Zone
Jiashan Economic Development Zone was established in Jiashan county, Zhejiang province and was approved as a provincial-level development zone by Zhejiang government in 1993. With the approval of the State Council in June 2011, it was further upgraded as a national economic development zone, covering a planned area of 18.2 square kilometers.
The zone is endowed with unique geological advantages. Located at the core of the Yangzte River Delta area, the most prosperous development zone in China, it is 80 km from Shanghai, 90 km from Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang, and 90 km from Suzhou. It is regarded as an important part of the industrial cluster in southeastern China.
It has prioritized the development of hardware and machinery manufacturing, wood-processing, textile and costume manufacturing, IT, and the plastic, chemical and food industries.
There are now four industrial clusters formed in the zone: hardware and machinery manufacturing, electronic information, wood-processing, and textile and costume manufacturing.
From January to October 2017, $300 million was invested in the zone, a year-on-year growth of 31.98 percent. The industrial productive investment reached 4.74 billion yuan ($687.37 million), a year-on-year growth of 18.2 percent. Twenty new projects with a total investment of 2.72 billion yuan were also signed in the zone.
