A new hall to demonstrate cultural heritages and creativity was unveiled in Shengzhou, Zhejiang province, Dec 26.
In the future, more than 100 intangible cultural heritages will be displayed here in different forms, including root carving, Yueju Opera and bamboo weaving.
Shengzhou, under the umbrella of Shaoxing city, is known for its long history and profound culture. Looking for efficient ways to inherit and promote local culture and art has always been a vital task for the government.
The hall will serve as a platform for cultural and artistic exhibitions, and as a "home" for craftspeople, said Pan Qifu, director of the city's publicity department, adding that based on the new platform, there will be more cultural activities in Shengzhou.
On the same day as the opening, an exhibition of root carvings was launched in the newly opened hall. A total of 208 artworks showcased creators' insights into art, society and life to Shengzhou residents.
