Jiaxing Xiuzhou High-tech Development Zone is located in the western part of Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province. Formerly known as the Xiuzhou Industrial Park, it was established in December 1997. In 2006, it was approved as a provincial development zone. In September 2015, the State Council officially approved its upgrading to a national high-tech zone.
Covering a planned area of 5.72 square kilometers, it has gathered nearly 500 enterprises above designated size, with nearly 200 enterprise research and development (R&D) centers, two State-level mass creation spaces, and six provincial-level key enterprise research institutes.
Jiaxing city is situated near various major cities in the Yangtze River Delta area. It is 90 kilometers from Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou. The Shanghai-Hangzhou railway, 320 National Highway and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal run through the area.
In 2017, the region achieved a total production value of 35.65 billion yuan ($5.28 billion), a year-on-year growth of 8.2 percent. Thirty-four new foreign investment projects were signed, of which 17 have an investment of over $10 million. Contracted foreign investment reached $618 million, and actual foreign investment totaled $271 million. The region attracted fixed asset investment of 25.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent.
