A rich assortment of cultural events was held around June 8 all over East China's Zhejiang province, to raise spirits during Cultural and Natural Heritage Day celebrations.

Since 2006, the State Council has made the second Saturday of each June the day to celebrate culture and natural heritage -- in a bid to promote Chinese traditional culture and raise the awareness of people for the need to protect and nurture old traditions.

Cultural fests have been held across Zhejiang over 13 years. This year over 200 events, including folk music and dance shows, and demonstrations of traditional food, were staged in every corner of the province with the theme of combining culture and tourism.
