A science and technology forum, as well as a summer camp to enhance cultural exchange between Chinese and US teens kicked off in Dongtou district of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on July 21.
Sponsored by the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in America and Dongtou's publicity department, the event aims to help students in China and the United States exchange ideas on science and technology and better understand each other's cultures.
A group of 20 US students embarked on a six-day tour with local peers in the island district of East China to experience the distinctive maritime culture.
On the opening day, they were invited to try their hands at local handicrafts, such as making figurines with rice flour.
Andy Feng, a student from Michigan, said he had visited Zhejiang before and was impressed by its technological development and rich culture. Feng hoped the tour in Dongtou could give him more of a taste of the ocean scenes and culture in East China.
