A landmark China-Cambodia Vocational Education Alliance -- initiated by Wenzhou Vocational & Technical College and the National Technical Training Institute in Cambodia -- was officially launched in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province on July 22.

A total of 74 government departments, universities and colleges, industrial associations and companies joined the alliance to forge closer education ties between the two Asian countries, hoping to develop a new engine for the advancement of vocational education and talent cultivation in both China and Cambodia.

Officials said it was expected that in the future the alliance, which comprises of 54 Chinese members and 20 foreign members, will conduct exchanges and cooperation in a wide range of fields such as platform building, talent cultivation and training research.

Wenzhou Vocational & Technical College, one of the two founding members of the alliance, has explored a new path for international cooperation in recent years.

Last year the college, in collaboration with Cambodia's National Technical Training Institute and Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group, established an overseas campus in Cambodia, the first of its kind among Zhejiang universities and colleges. So far, the campus has enrolled 80 full-time students majoring in electric automatization.

"Wenzhou Vocational & Technical College is integrating the industry-education combined concept into its international development," said Wang Jinggao, Party chief of the Wenzhou-based college, adding that it will endeavor to build the overseas campus into a model for integrated industry education.
