Overseas Chinese media invited to promote Wenzhou globally

Currently, there are nearly 170,000 Wencheng natives living in more than 70 countries and regions around the world, statistics showed. There are also 55 overseas Chinese organizations in which the majority of members are from Wencheng, and more than 1,600 of them hold high positions in those organizations.

"Wenzhou is now in a strategic development period with a lot of opportunities in the way of reform, environmental protection, innovation, talent introduction, industrial transformation, transportation improvement and rural revitalization," said Yao Gaoyuan, mayor of Wenzhou, at a promotional meeting for the city on Nov 15.

Yao expressed hope that media at home and abroad will promote the city to help create a sound external environment for its development.

The city's departments of culture, tourism, and investment briefed the attendees on the city's achievements in recent years.

In addition, the publicity department of Wencheng county signed an agreement with 12 overseas Chinese media outlets on Nov 15 to conduct cooperation in overseas news dissemination.
