The first large-scale comprehensive university in China

The new Zhejiang University, which is merged with the then Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang University of Agriculture and Zhejiang University of Medicine, was officially established on Sept 15, 1998. It was the first comprehensive university in China to be combined with several small-scale universities.

The university’s five campuses include Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Hubin and Zhijiang. It covers 11 subjects, including culture, history, education, economics, management, agriculture and medicine. The school has become the one of the largest comprehensive university in China and home to one of the largest offerings of subjects in the country.
