Zhejiang Normal University, based in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, revolves around the professional training of teachers. In 2015, it was selected as one of the first key universities to be prioritized by Zhejiang authorities for future development.

As of December 2020, Zhejiang Normal University had produced more than 300,000 graduates, of whom 210,000 went on to become teaching professionals. They make up nearly half of Zhejiang's special-class teachers (the highest grade in China's basic education system) and half of all presidents of provincial-level key high schools.

The university currently has around 28,000 undergraduates and 5,600 postgraduates, including more than 3,000 international students.

The university offers 71 undergraduate majors, eight doctoral education programs for first-level disciplines, 28 master's education programs for first-level disciplines, and seven postdoctoral research stations. The university's mathematics, chemistry, engineering, and material science departments are among the top one percent in the world, according to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

Zhejiang Normal University has established cooperative relations with 280 universities in more than 60 countries and regions, and it is running student exchange programs with around 70 foreign universities.
