The documentary was made from 1,000 hours of video material from various media without a professional cinematographer. Before the film editing was completed, the director and camerateam never met, said Li Wei, general producer of Days and Nights in Wuhan.

It was praised by industry experts at its premiere in Beijing on Jan 16.
