Zhejiang releases list of top privately-owned companies

The Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce recently released the "Top 200 Privately-Owned Enterprises in Zhejiang", "Top 100 R&D Spender among Privately-Owned Enterprises in Zhejiang", and "Top 100 Employers among Privately-Owned Enterprises in Zhejiang" lists.

The annual operating revenue threshold that company needs to make the Top 200 list is 5.922 billion yuan ($930.35 million), up 14.39 percent from the 2020 edition.

The annual R&D expenses threshold for a company to be included in the Top 100 R&D Spender list is 201 million yuan, up 8.06 percent from the 2020 edition. The total R&D expenditure for this list is 141.349 billion yuan, up 12.64 percent from the 2020 edition.

The staff number for a company to be included in the Top 100 Employers list is 9,200 individuals, up 14.54 percent from the 2020 edition. The top 100 employers in the list hire a combined total of 2.29 million employees.

The top six on the Top 200 list - Alibaba Group, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group, Tsingshan Holding Group, Hengyi Petrochemicals, and Hailiang Group - are also Fortune Global 500 companies.

The top 96 on the Top 200 list are now among the top 500 privately-owned companies in China.

Among the top 200 privately-owned companies in Zhejiang, 64 are based in the provincial capital of Hangzhou, followed by Ningbo (37), Shaoxing (32), and Wenzhou (17).

The total after-tax net profits of the top 200 stood at 459.461 billion yuan, up 6.2 percent compared with the top 200 in the 2020 edition.

The annual growth of net profits for 101 enterprises among the top 200 was above 10 percent.
