Chinese designer Susan Fang has collaborated with Zara to release the SUSAN FANG X ZARA collection to celebrate the coming Chinese Spring Festival. The designer says the collection is inspired by "love and celebration of family tradition".
"This collection comes from my personal memory of childhood, my mother, family celebrations for the Spring Festival. It's like a kind of dialogue with the past," Fang said.
In her mother's memory, her hometown in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, is a quiet land with clear lakes and beautiful bamboo forests. People there live in a natural and healthy eco-system, getting food and natural fabric from plants.
Crystal and glass beads are Fang's signatures, and the SUSAN FANG X ZARA collection also features many different beads.
Fang graduated from Central Saint Martins and established her own label Susan Fang in London in 2017. She was the finalist for the 2019 LVMH Prize, and is the first Chinese designer to release a collection with ZARA.
